With the right information, support and guidance every child can succeed. Every child deserves to succeed regardless of their race, class, gender or family background.- Donia Narh

Donia Narh is a pioneering transformative educator and an inspirational ‘education to employment’ specialist with over 24 years of experience.  Her mission is to ensure that children of African Caribbean heritage and inner-city backgrounds are enabled to maximise their potential, excel in education and secure quality career opportunities. Her unwavering belief that ‘with the right information, support and guidance every child can succeed’ is at the core of the numerous innovative education and student leadership initiatives that she has developed and delivered to schools, parents, organisations, and companies over the years.

Since winning the Women For Africa (WFA) ‘Judges Choice’ Award in 2018, Donia has significantly evolved her educational programmes using technology. In 2019, she established the Securing Your Child’s Future (SYCF) programme to directly empower parents to value the importance of both formal and informal education by focusing on the ‘whole child’.  Its primary objective is to equip children to excel academically, financially, spiritually, physically, and socially. Parents get the opportunity to understand the skill set needed to raise future leaders and students gain access to global companies including ZOOM and Estee Lauder brands such as Bobbi Brown, Aveda and Smashbox.

Donia is relentless in her commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to excel, thrive and succeed. During the pandemic for instance, her determination that no child should be left behind propelled her to take the SYCF programme online and to launch the Amazing Parent Gems (Classroom to Boardroom System). Parents, children, and young people now have access to over two hundred quality educational and digital resources. She also worked with international partners to provide essential resources to those from less fortunate communities in Zambia and the West Indies. Her post pandemic (April 2022) Justgiving campaigns raised just under £2000 to help these communities.

Donia’s experience as an educator, qualified teacher, author, speaker, consultant and a Black History Specialist led to many landmark achievements within the education sector including having one of her students achieve the fifth highest GCSE marks in England.  Her sons, Zane and Nathan and other children that she has worked with have passed numerous grammar schools entry examinations including the rigorous Eton College and St Olave’s entry requirements.

In 2004, Donia launched the ACES Youth Project (www.acesproject.co.uk) to raise the achievements and improve the employment prospects of children and young people of African Caribbean heritage.  As a result of working with schools and organisations in over 25 London boroughs, ACES’ facilitators and students have received awards at the House of Lords, had special ACES event with Dawn Butler MP in Parliament, met Prime Minister Boris Johnson and HRH Prince Charles and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.  They have also visited FTSE 500 companies and worked with professionals from JP. Morgan to Facebook.

After seeing the need to recognise the achievements of students of African-Caribbean heritage, Donia launched the Oscar-style, student achievement awards ceremony- the ACES Diamond Ball. This award was aired on BEN TV in the UK and to various countries in Africa. The ceremonies were supported by celebrities and role models such as Tim Campbell (the first winner of BBC’s The Apprentice) Yolanda Brown (double MOBO award winner), Levi Roots (Dragon’s Den millionaire) and Caroline Marsh (Channel 4’s Secret Millionaire). The winners of these awards joined the ACES Aspire Alumni, which now boasts a network of high achieving students have helped to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for business ventures via crowdfunding. The inspirational  Aspire student magazine (www.ACESAspire.com) was created in 2015 to showcase the phenomenal achievements of these young people. It offers students a positive avenue to express their voices and opinions in society.

In 2017, Donia shared her success formulas in her first book called ‘Securing Your Child’s Future’ and launched an education, parenting and lifestyle magazine site (www.amazingparentgems.com) to inform and engage parents of these students and also give them a place to share their experiences.

Education is more than a fad; it is a powerful tool that changes lives and so Donia has always and will always continue to push boundaries until our children ‘rise’ and fully take their place at the decision-making tables.
